Bhavish Aggarwal, the Founder of Ola Electric, has responded to the legal notice from MapMyIndia and the recent controversy surrounding its mapping solution. Recently, the Bengaluru-based firm launched Ola maps as an alternative choice to Google Maps.
By moving away from Google Maps, the company also switched its operations to its own in-house mapping service. CE Info systems, the parent organization of MapMyIndia, sent a legitimate notification to Ola Electric for supposedly copying the former’s information.
In the lawful notification, MapMyIndia asserted that Ola Electric penetrated the permit arrangement. In 2022, Ola Electric on boarded MapMyIndia to offer route administrations for its S1 Pro electric bike.
According to MapMyIndia, Ola could not combine the licensed product with another product that was similar to it, engage in reverse engineering, or attempt to extract or copy the source code from the licensed product’s API or any software that was related to it.
MapMyIndia claimed that Ola maps reserved, saved its information which is a violation of the permitting understanding endorsed in 2021.
The Delhi-based firm additionally added that it will start fitting legitimate activity, both common as well as criminal, against Ola Electric. Ola, be that as it may, invalidated the charges made by MapMyIndia.
In addition, Ola Electric’s stock market debut is scheduled for August 2. “We wanted to ensure that the pricing was set at a level that would generate significant excitement among investors,” Aggarwal stated regarding the forthcoming IPO.
Last week, media reports recommended that Ola will drop down its plan for vehicle creation. Nonetheless, Aggarwal explained that the firm didn’t verify or refute plans to stop vehicle creation.
“It is opportunistic of MapMyIndia; there are opportunistic players everywhere. We will respond to them at the right time,” Aggarwal quoted.
Ola Electric spokesperson states, “We would like to state unequivocally that these allegations are false, malicious and misleading. Ola Electric stands by the integrity of its business practices. We will suitably respond to the notice shortly”.
